LICENSING YOUR POSTS

If you agree here, you’re letting me print your posts in a book I sell. That’s the whole deal. Below is exactly what that covers, what it doesn’t, and how you get out of it.

Nothing is printed yet. The product isn’t live. Agreeing here puts you in the pool and starts a conversation about your share. It doesn’t send anything to a printer.

1. WHAT YOU’RE LICENSING

You’re giving permission to reproduce your own public posts: the image or video frame, the caption text, your handle and display name, as screenshots or typeset reproductions, printed verbatim in a physical book that is offered for sale.

Verbatim matters: your posts get reproduced as they appeared. They aren’t rewritten, edited for meaning, or fed through a model that regenerates them. Cropping, rescaling and page layout are the only changes.

Only content you posted publicly is used. Nothing is taken from behind a login, and no account credentials are ever requested, stored, or used to reach content, not yours, not anyone’s. If it wasn’t public, it isn’t eligible.

You keep ownership of everything. This is permission to use it, not a transfer of copyright, and it isn’t exclusive. You can license the same posts to anyone else.

2. ABOUT THE COMMENTS

The book prints comment threads on the page facing each post. Those comments are not yours to license and you are not licensing them. Your agreement here covers your own content only.

Comment text is handled under a separate process, and the people who wrote it are anonymised in print: no handles, no display names, no avatars, no links back to their accounts.

3. WHAT FORMAT ACTUALLY WORKS

The book is printed pages, not video. A post only works if it has a still frame that reads on paper: a photo with a caption, a caption on its own (a tweet, a text post), or a photo with no caption that’s self-explanatory without it.

Video is fine as long as there’s a still cover that works as a photo post on its own, the way a thumbnail would. A frame that only makes sense mid-motion, or a caption that just says “watch till the end,” won’t get used.

If you post mostly video, the practical upshot: the more still-friendly posts you have (a proper photo post, a strong caption-only post), the more of your content is actually eligible to be printed and paid out.

4. WHAT YOU GET PAID

A royalty per post, per book. Every time someone buys a book that includes one of your posts, you get paid for it. No negotiation needed to start earning: this applies to everyone whose content is licensed and printed.

The mechanics: 20% of the profit from each book sale is split between the creators whose posts appear in that copy, weighted by how many of your posts are in it. More posts of yours in a given book means a bigger share of that 20% for that sale.

Agreeing on this page does not guarantee any of your content is selected. It just means that if it is, you get paid for it, automatically, every time.

5. SCOPE, AND HOW TO GET OUT

Physical books only. This licence covers printed, physical editions and the images of those pages used to market them. It does not cover apps, ebooks, merchandise, training any machine learning model, or resale of your content on its own.

You can pull out at any time. Email partners@thedoomscrollbook.com and your content is removed from every future print run. I’ll confirm in writing within 30 days.

The honest limit: books already printed and sold can’t be recalled off someone’s shelf. Withdrawal stops future printing, but it can’t un-print the past.

Same address for takedowns, corrections, a copy of what you agreed to, or deleting your record entirely.

6. THE REST OF IT

You confirm you have the right to license. That the posts are yours, and that you’re not signing away something that belongs to a label, agency, brand partner or client.

Third parties in your content. If a post prominently features another identifiable person, tell me. Some content needs their permission too, and I’d rather find out before it’s printed.

Term. The licence runs until you withdraw it. It covers print runs produced while it is in force.

No obligation either way. Agreeing doesn’t guarantee your content is selected or printed, and doesn’t require you to promote anything.

Changes. If these terms change materially, the version number changes and I’ll ask you to agree again rather than applying new terms to an old signature. Your stored record always names the version you actually accepted.

Governing law. These terms are governed by the laws of [Jurisdiction].

WANT TO PROMOTE IT TOO?

Separate from the per-post royalty above: if you want to actively promote the book to your audience, that’s its own arrangement, a percentage of the profit from books bought through your link. Terms depend on your audience and reach, so let’s talk it through directly.

AGREE & SIGN UP

This records your agreement to the terms above. It does not commit you to a specific revenue share. We settle that together, in writing, before anything is printed.

Terms version 2026-09-07.v2. Your agreement is stored with this version number and a timestamp. See the privacy policy for what is kept and how to have it deleted.

Not ready to agree? Email partners@thedoomscrollbook.com and ask whatever you want first. Or go back to the main page.
